Study Methods

Becoming a pilot involves a lot of study, however there are plenty of tools to help.

To gain a certificate or rating, student pilots have to pass a computer test (FAA), and an oral test with the examiner.

Knowing your stuff will also save you time in the airplane, and that's big bucks.

Flight Instructor

Your flight instructor will ideally integrate ground school subjects with flight training as you progress, so you learn as you go along.

Often students want to be flying, not sitting in a classroom, however it's important to associate material with what you are doing in the airplane, in bite sizes.

Your instructor should guide you through what to study, with study assignments, so you can be prepared for each lesson.

Working with a flight instructor allow you a resource to answer your questions and explain subjects one on one.

Books

Having good study materials is key to learning, luckily there are some excellent books which are illustrated better than ever before.

Ground School Courses

Some schools offer night school courses for pilot exams, these classes are a great way to learn in a group, and can save money too.

The methods you use will depend on how you study, what you can spend, and what is available where you are.
