Over the Fence
It's surprising how memberable things are when they're done at a particular time - a good example of this is a gear check "over the fence".
Even with checklists and bells and whistles warning a pilot that the gear is still up, pilots do from time to time forget to lower the gear, and land 'gear up'.
Making a habit to check the gear is down, every time as you cross over the airport perimeter fence is a
great habit to develop, and it'll stick with you no matter which aircraft you fly.
A simply mental check of "OVER THE FENCE - GEAR DOWN" could save you from ever forgetting. When all else fails, this check could save the day.
