Pause
Airline life is coordinated through the computer and phone.
Espicially when you are new and on reserve, you'll be calling in to check your schedule and confirm it, each day. You'll have to call after trips to be 'released' etc.
Calling the airline scheduling number and signing in on the phone, working your way through the options, and getting to where you need to be can be a time consuming task, one wrong key stroke and you end up starting again.
One useful task is to use program the entire number into the phone, not just the phone number itself, but your employee number, password, and any options you normally have to dial.
It's possible to include pauses in the programmed number, replicating the time delay between ringing the phone number and when the number is answered and ready to take the next digits. While cell phones may differ in the character that represents a pause, a common one is the letter 'p'.
So, to simpify calling work, program your cell phone with the company number, then program a pause 'p' (one or more depending on how long a pause you want), then program in the next digits, any more pauses, and so on.
When you want to phone work, select the number from your contact list, and let the phone do the rest.
