For 20 years I have been a flight service specialist, and am still constantly amazed about the misinformation pilots have about weather and how much control we specialists have over it. The other evening, with airmass thunderstorms all over the state, one guy persisted in trying to pin me down as to exactly where they were going to be at the time of his proposed flight.

I finally responded, "Look, a thunderstorm is like a 1000 pound gorilla--it sits wherever it darn well wants to."

He got the message (and laughed!)
